I was able to get this to work by changing the normal url with a direct link to the. (If you're adventurous, you can patch it in yourself by clicking 'customize' on the Forge installation and editing the JSON as appropriate, but it'll probably only be a couple hours before it gets updated on their end.) Right now it's just a matter of waiting until the new version makes its way to MultiMC's servers. I use Oracle's JRE 8u301 for 1.16, but I did also try using AdoptOpenJDK 16 (forge supports it with some messing around with JVM arguments), but it had the same error.įorgeWrapper 1.5.0 fixes this issue. I think it's because they force the use of minecraft (official launcher) game profiles (at least that's what the error looks like to me)

Some extra libraries are missing! Run the installer to generate them now. I have seen other issues saying running in online mode can fix errors like this, but I am running in online mode so I don't think that's the issue. The official launcher runs these versions just fine.

Attempting to launch Forge 36.1.66 or newer (36.2.0, the next update, is the newest at time of writing) results in an error and failure to launch.
